EOS R6 Constantly Freezes

GoUSNR

I bought a brand-new EOS R6 in September 2021, three years later it started freezing constantly. I've read every single post I can find and tried every single suggestion (firmware, battery, memory card).

I'm not using a battery grip (but have in the past). I have tried turning off the wi-fi. still no joy.

The ONLY thing that clears the freeze is to take the battery out. But then the very next photo it freezes again.

I can't believe I spent nearly $3000 on a camera and can't use it. I'm very disappointed in Canon.

  1. What lenses are you using Canon or third party.
  2. What batteries are you using Canon or 3rd Party.
  3. Are you using a Canon or 3rd Party Mount adapter.
  4. Are you using an external speedlite Canon or 3rd Party.

It is important that you answer ALL of these questions completely with lenses, mount adapters, speedlites and batteries please use the FULL NAME of the item in question. Using the name "Canon 24-105mm" lens isn't good enough or complete. Canon has made multiple lenses with that name in the EF and RF Mounts.

I agree with Demetrius’ request that you try to fully answer all of his questions.  Help someone to help you.

  1. What lenses are you using Canon or third party. - Currently I am using a Canon RF 24-105mm f/4-7.1 IS STM Lens. I have also used Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L, and a Canon EF 50mm F/1.8. I do not use anything but Canon lenses.
  2. What batteries are you using Canon or 3rd Party. - Canon LP-E6NH (original Canon product, not a aftermarket brand).
  3. Are you using a Canon or 3rd Party Mount adapter. - When using my older Canon lenses (EF) I have used the Canon Mount Adapter EF-EOS R.
  4. Are you using an external speedlite Canon or 3rd Party. I don't use a flash at all.

You didn’t use full names for the EF 70-200mm F/2.8L & EF 50mm F/1.8 lenses. What are the Full names. That is not good enough because there are multiple versions of those lenses. The names are also incomplete.

Apparently I am not nearly as smart as you because I have no idea what else you want me to tell you. What do you mean by "You didn't use full names for the EF 70-200 mm..." I used the entire name that I know. What else do you want me to tell you? There is nothing else on the equipment for me to provide.

Hi there,

Here to hopefully help clarify! Those lenses have various versions so there is a bit more to add to the end of the lens name. What I mean by that is for example, the EF 70-200mm F/2.8L has 4 potential models:
EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM

EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS III USM

EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM

EF 70-200mm f/2.8L USM

Do you happen to know which version you have?

My beginning post said "please use the FULL NAME of the item in question". Every Canon lens spells out its full name on it. Here are some example lenses where you can find the FULL NAME of the lenses you have.

I think it would also be helpful to know the brand and the model(s) of memory card(s) being used.
