EOS R6 Body invalid serial number

Sabrinawilham

Hi, every time I try to register my R6, I get this error message. The serial number you have entered is invalid for one or more of the following reasons:

1) The serial number does not match the product you have selected (FCC ID which starts with “AZD” is often mistaken for serial number.)
2) The serial number entered indicates this product was not intended for sale in the United States and is ineligible for registration and support in the U.S.

Please verify your product model and serial number to ensure they were entered correctly. How can this be fixed?

I am confident it’s the right serial number.

You bought a "gray market" camera!

It is possible for a consumer to buy a gray market product without realizing it. I would think that this person may have indeed purchased a gray market camera but may not have been aware that they were doing so.

Hi Sabrina,

You’ll find the serial number for your Canon R6 on the bottom of the camera body, typically printed in black type inside a silver or white box. Just flip the camera over and look near the tripod mount—it's usually easy to spot.

Some R-series models may also have the serial number behind the flip-out LCD screen, so if it’s not on the bottom, give that area a quick check too.

If you're registering your gear, filing insurance, or prepping workflow cards, jotting down that serial number is a smart move. 😎

Cheers,
Joe

I’m not sure if I remember this correctly, but if you bought it as a kit with lens you have to select that kit, not just the camera.  I may be wrong and this may not be your situation, but throwing it out there just in case.
