EOS R50 has spots in images, stains on image sensor

Purchased camera from Canon and comes broken and no warranty?

I have a problem with a purchase from Canon Refurbished camera.

I got the camera on september 25th, purchased refurbished online, and since I haven been travelling for work, was only able to check it now. (see photo)

The first photo I took you can clearly see it has some dark spots. I took out the lends and spoted the sensor was having stains. How can you sell a refurbished camera with stains in sensor? (see photo)

I cleaned the sensor and there is still marks a dark spot. I see not marks at sensor.

I just called Canon here is Portugal and they just told me the US warranty cannot be done here in Europe. So I just bought this camera from cana itself, comes broken and cant have repair?

Thank youcanon 1.JPGcanon 2.jpgCanon 3.JPG

Sensor spots are caused by small dust particles that enter the camera while changing/installing the lens. It does not indicate a "broken" camera. They tend to be most visible with a solid background like a blue sky and at smaller lens apertures. They can be removed first by trying blowing with a device like a Rocket Blower (do not use canned compressed air). More stubborn ones might require the use of a sensor cleaning system. Do not rub the sensor or use any liquid other than a quality sensor cleaning liquid. They can also be eliminated during post processing.

John, thank you for your answer. I already cleaned the sensor and there is still a spot in there.

And the bad side it came with those marks directly from canon! How come they sell camera like this. Now if I cannot clean this, they say I don't have warranty here in Europe. I am so mad cause I tried to clean this and can't get rid of that spot. Canon here says its US responsability.

It may have come from Canon like that, but it is also possible that the dust particles entered the camera when you were installing the lens. I don't know if this is your first interchangeable lens digital camera, but sensor spots are part of the process.

The camera comes with a 1 year US warranty. When you return from traveling you could send it to Canon for a cleaning.

You didn't say what model camera you have, but many have a menu setting where you can use Canon DPP4 software to remove during processing. You can also just clone them out.

The camera is a R50.

Please don't blame on user. Its not my first first interchangeable lens digital camera. I didn't touch any part in interior or spilled anything isnide. And besides that, its not dust that was inside. You can see on the photos, its stains. Had to be removed with liquid I can't beleive it got sold refurbished as this..

The other thing, I got placed overseas in Europe and not sure when I can go back. If I can solve this, just feeling I trashed this money on Canon.

It looks like you were able to resolve on your own. Enjoy your new camera.

Perhaps you didn't understand and I didn't explain well. Even after I cleaned sensor, a spot is still persistant
