EOS R50 (black) Dial Mode and Power Switch Broken

Chrispy

Hello, I had my Canon EOS R50 (black color) that I bought exactly a year ago in my storage for few months and when I took it out, the mode dial and the power switch came off. I tried putting it back off and it didn't work. I can still manage to turn on the camera with a toothpick or something small and short and use the camera to its full capability. Is there anything I can do to fix this without service or do I have to go to the service?

Greetings,

Please review this KB and see if it applies to your camera.

Either way, you cannot fix this on your own.  Your camera will need professional service.

That link says my Canon R50's serial number's first two digits should be between 19 and 23. If mine starts with 23 is that fine?

Your camera is affected by the notice.  You should initiate a repair request.

I did, and when I submitted the request it said the repair fee is $0 and the shipping & handling is $0, but the shipping label they sent doesn't qualify for free shipping. What should I do? I don't think I can contact them anymore because it says my product isn't supported anymore.
