EOS R50 V on copy stand: how to force recording orientation?

Hi, just joined. Question about the Canon EOS R50V.

The camera sits flat on a copy stand with the lens pointing straight down. Recorded clips come out in random orientation, sometimes portrait, sometimes landscape. Rotating the ball head does nothing. The vertical shutter button only works when the camera is actually held vertically, which is irrelevant here.

I need to consciously choose the recording orientation, portrait or landscape, depending on what I need at the moment, regardless of how the camera is positioned physically.

Is there a menu setting for this, or any other solution?

Thanks

Try unfolding the flip out screen.

Turn Auto Rotate "Off"

Good idea. I had suspected that the camera didn’t know which direction it was pointing.  I think the sensor is inside the rear flip out screen.
