I recently purchased a Canon R5. I uploaded my first set up pictures to my Mac computer and all the pictures uploaded in "Lr" and when I go to edit it takes me directly to Lightroom. This has NEVER happened before. Is there a way to change it not to upload directly to Lr. I do most of my editing in Photoshop.

The standard way to handle camera files is to use Image Capture. Run it once to tell it what to do, and it should be automagic from then on.

LR or LR Classic? I upload all of my images from camera to LR Classic, but I have it setup to create new folders by date and put the pictures in the folders, they are also imported to LR Classic, but I don’t have to edit in LRC, as the folder is just a normal folder. If you are using LR (cloud version) I don’t think you can specify where they go, but they should still be accessible from any editor.
i should mention that the are not really imported to LRC or LR, just added to the LR catalog so you have easy access.

Greetings,
Is it possible you have associated your image files to open with Lr?
If so...
