EOS R5 How to Save Custom Settings

pbelanger
Apprentice

I am setting up my Canon R5 with custom settings what mode do I have to be in and are the settings saved in all of the modes? FV / P / TV / AV / M

How would I create and save different settings for different types of photography, like Landscapes, Birds in Flight, People?

Thanks

Hello, pbelager!

Yes, you can register everything but [A+] (full auto). Start on page 801 of the R5's Advanced Users Guide. You basically set up your camera for the particular task and "Register" it to a custom function, like C1, C2, or C3. There is a warning in the manual that some settings wont be saved and IIRC, some modes can't be assigned to a custom setting. You will also get an option to auto update the custom function, which comes in handy IMO.  Personally, I only use 2 of the 3, so 3 are plenty for me 🙂

As Rick mentioned, saving to card can extend the saving of settings, or scenarios beyond the 3 that are available and allows you to put those settings on another R5 but it must have the same f/w version.
