windows 11 is more than capable but not to see 454gig files on  the canon R3

Not sure why you're hesitant to try what could be a solution.  In general, using card readers does allow for the maximum chance of success.   They are also very inexpensive.

have you folk encountered this at all, seems no one knows that DPP and Lightroom can handle video  well, import minor editing.  And no one seems to have the experience with large files.

Yes, we have encountered people that do not want to try basic troubleshooting suggestions that they have been given.  I gave up on you a week ago when it became apparent that you are trying to access the files on the memory card while the card is still in the camera.  The camera blocks other apps from accessing the files while the memory card is in the camera.

The camera is not a memory stick.  Believe it or not, attempting to read file file properties such as file size requires that the file metadata be read.  File names do not require that a file be 0pened, as that information is stored in the directory.

I find your refusal to copy the files from the camera to a computer unreasonable.

Good-bye and good luck.

Every version of Windows “has this problem”, as well every version of MacOS.

[EDIT] File size has nothing to do with it.  File access is blocked!
