EOS R10 Focus bracketing/stacking in M mode

Hi!

I understand that with the R10, focus stacking and bracketing is only available using Autofocus, but can my camera be in (M) manual mode otherwise?

First, the ZIP file is a container that has a PDF with install instructions AND the firmware for your camera. Windows treats it like a folder once you click it.

Start by double clicking the eosr10-v150-win.zip file. It should open and show the files (see attached).

Right click the R1015000.FIR and select "Copy" (see attached). 

Insert your card in the reader and you should see the card. It will already be in the "Root" and show folders (see attached). Just use your pick button or tap into an open area, which will be the Root, just to insure that you are indeed in the root and not one of the folders. Now just "Right click" and select "Paste".

After the transfer, you should see this.

You need to copy the file - you did that already above

then open the SD drive in explorer and select the root folder then right click and select paste to paste the copied file

As instructed, inserted SD card into card reader, found it as EOS_Digital (E:)

Under that is:

        DCIM

           100 CANON

             CANONMSC

MISC

How to access the Root Folder from all of that, please.

I just needed a little more "show and tell" to get me going.

If you use the back button AF trick, then the you press the AF-ON button to initially focus using your thumb, then release it. Your subject should be in focus and you don't need to move any switches on the lens. Now you can move the camera slightly further back from the subject which ensures the the first frame in the stack is just in front of the subject and subsequent ones increment the focus through the subject. To start bracketing just press the shutter button. 

Best time of day for insects is the cool mornings before they get fully warmed up and animated.

The shooting modes, such as M, only control the exposure. It’s completely independent of AF.
