EOS R successor

Dear Sir,

would it be possible to consider the creation of a 30+ megapixel EOS R mirrorless camera to succeed and replace the 30.4 megapixel EOS R.

i have tried the EOS R5 several times and considered purchasing it however it has a micro HDMI port instead of the mini HDMI port of the EOS R, and there was significant bad press about overheating during video mode.

Canon currently has the 45 megapixel EOS R5, the 24 megapixel R3 and R6 Mark ii, the 26 megapixel RP, and the 20 megapixel R6. it seems as if there is a gap in the lineup in terms of a moderate, i.e. 30+ megapixel camera.

Could Canon consider using a similar design language as the R5 and the R in terms of top LCD display and no control or PASM dial? whether or not there is a joystick or a scroll wheel is not quite so important though probably desirable.

i currently own a 5D Mark iv and an EOS R as well as a 5D Mark ii and two f2.8 RF zooms (15-35mm and 24-70mm) and an f4.0 RF zoom (10-20mm), as well as a Canon C70 for video.

i was wondering about the Canon EOS R1 as there are rumors about its imminent release. the R3 is 24 megapixels and the current R5 is 45 megapixels. if the R1 were to focus on speed and high frame rate like most of the 1 series cameras, then would it not be possible that it may have a resolution higher than the 24 megapixels of the R3 to differentiate it but lower than the 45 megapixels of the current R5. in other words, Canon may already have developed a sensor suitable in megapixel count for the EOS R successor

I also would like to see a second generation EOS R. Just beef it up where AF technology allows and very conservatively keep it what it is, a truly wonderful camera.

i guess i was wrong about the 30 megapixel sensor of the EOS R1 but i do hope that they will still produce a mid range 30 or 30+ megapixel EOS R camera with 4K 10-bit 4:2:2 video and preferably CLOG 2 and 3 and a better EVF

The R52 might be a great option for you.  Full size HDMI, CLOG2... Checks your boxes and adds slightly more resolution.  You might not need all of them, but they are nice to have.

Dear Shadowsports,

i purchased a second hand EOS R5 with very low shutter count, i.e. 4000 or below, and took comparison photographs indoors under identical lighting and with the same lens and found that under artificial lighting ( it was in a well lit school library ), the EOS R5 does not perform any better that the EOS R both in terms of colour output and in terms of resolution and detail. the R5 output had more noise. both cameras were set to iso 400 and the lens used was the RF 15-35mm f2.8L IS U. both cameras were also colour profiled with an X-Rite ColorChecker Digital SG. i have not made comparison shots outdoors where there would be higher light levels and where it would be the full spectrum of wavelengths from the sun but based on the indoor shots, i still think that there is a need for a 30 or 30+ megapixel EOS R camera with better autofocus and 4K 4:2:2 uncropped video with CLog as a successor to the EOS R as the 24 megapixel options may not deliver the resolution in many cases

before purchasing the EOS R5, i had considered my other options as i wanted more detail in my library images which were used for a 12" x 8" wedding album style photo book. i had considered my options and invested in a Fujifilm GFX 50Sii and GF 20-35mm f4.0 but though the sensor produced more details the colour science was not to my liking even when i unsuccessfully colour profiled it with two different colour charts. i do much prefer Canon ( and Nikon ) colour science and really hope that there can be a new mid to high end EOS R with a resolution in between the current 24 megapixels and 45 megapixels

I had the same findings with the R5, really not a big difference to the R in terms of noise. Tho, I like the R5 skin colors way more than those green-ish EOS R colors. IDK if Canon intended the R as a landscape camera or if it's some form of cripple-hammer, so people would still buy the 5D4. Well anyways, the R6 Mark III seems to be on the way for 2025. Let's wait if that one will get a 30 MP sensor. (Third gen devices usually are always great)
