EOS M6 with Vintage LT Lens - What Settings?

OK - so I've put a vintage Voigtlander LT mount on the EOS M6 with an adapter, changed the Custom setting to Release Shutter without lens - I want to use it in Picture Style mode set to Grainy B&W. Is there a good reason why that doesn't work? I just get a red Camera icon flashing in the viewfinder, and the shutter won't release.

It it only with that Picture Style or does the camera not expose at all with tht lens installed?

It works on M, Av, Tv etc. just not in the Picture Style setting.
I have set it Monichrome on the C1 custom position - works - will just have to add grain and contrast after.

Page 205 of your manual shows when the option can be enabled.
