I do not have that camera, so I cannot tell you what buttons to push or menus to use. I strongly suggest that you download a PDF copy of the User Guide. I also suggest that you forget about using the onboard flash. It has a very limited range, somewhere around 3-6 feet, and it will drain your battery very quickly.

Wit the camera set to one of the creative modes, P, Tv, Av, M press the menu button and navigate to the 5th page of the red menus. There you will find a menu option for Flash control, in that menu you can disable the flash from firing, it needs to be enabled. Change the setting from off to on.

With a camera (or any device for that matter) with which you are not familiar, your first step should be to find a copy of the user guide - it is your best friend and will save you a lot of frustration. You can download the manual for the M6 from the following link: Camera User Guide (c-wss.com).
