EOS M3 Wifi fails and shuts off camera

Situation: EOS M3 camera with firmware version 1.2.1 and Android S22 smartphone with latest Canon Connect App unable to use wifi to transfer from camera to phone. Wifi shuts off camera.

I have noticed recently that my wifi on my camera does not work properly. I follow all the directions to access the function on the camera but when the camera attempts to find an access point, the screen goes black and the camera shuts off. The battery is new and fully charged and I have tried two other batteries at full charges to no success. I have reset all camera settings and wifi settings and attempting to re-establish connections to my phone. I have removed the app from my phone and redownloaded and setup again the app with no success as well as updating my camera to the latest firmware (1.2.1) from Canon's site. Bluetooth is not turned on when trying to connect. I know the camera is no longer supported by Canon but I don't want to upgrade as it still functions well and is in good shape. I have used wifi in the past, as recently as about 9 months ago. What else can I try to get the camera wifi to work again or am I out of luck?

I'm sorry to hear that you are having issues with your camera while trying to use the wireless feature. Have you tried connecting the camera to a different phone to see if it does the same thing? If the camera is actually powering off when you try selecting an access point, then the camera is malfunctioning unfortunately.

You can try the NFC (Near Field Communication) method of connecting the devices to see if that helps get around this issue. You can read more on how to do that HERE starting on page 116.
