EOS 70D Settings for Northern Lights

I JUST GOT A SECONDHAND EOS70D IS THERE SOMEONE WHO CAN HELP ME WITH THE SETTINGS? THERE IS SO MUCH IN YOUTUBE IM CPNFUSE

I would reset both the main and custom functions back to factory. Then set the mode dial to P Mode with Auto ISO. Also learn the controls of your camera. Don't try to learn everything at once.

To begin with, you should have the Canon manual for the 70D. Look for one on eBay, or at UsedPhotoPro.com. It is worth spending a few bucks to get the printed version.  Here is the online PDF you can download.......https://www.usa.canon.com/support/p/eos-70d

Also, look for a book  on the 70D, in bookstores, Amazon, library, etc. They are often easier to learn from than the factory manual.

1. Use an aperture of f/2.8 or the widest in your lens
2. Adjust an ISO from 3200 to 8000
3. Set a shutter speed between 1-12 seconds
4. Adjust your white balance to 3500k
5. Set lens to MF and focus manually on a distant light or object. Tape lens w/gaffer tape so focus doe...
6. Select a shutter delay of 2 seconds

Some aurora are static and just light up the sky. Others are like curtains of light and are moving; the moving kind need a shorter shutter speed to stop the motion.

Decide on a shutter speed and then adjust ISO to get the image you want.
