EOS 6D Function button popped off

Canon 6D

Top Function button (M,P, B, etc) popped off at some point and I just realized it. I can still work it but can't tell what function I'm on. I see them for sale all over the place for as low as $1.50. Not sure which one I need bc some of them look slightly different than others. Also, can I assume it just pops on?Where did it go?

Amazon also sells less expensive caps.  Some comments say they fit but don't stick well.
