So I have an EOS 60D with a shutter count of approx 50k give or take and I’ve realised that when I use my speed light occasionally the shutter gets stuck. Am I doomed or is this just a weird quirk?

What do you mean by the shutter gets stuck?

Is the shutter getting stuck or is it the mirror. When this happens can you see through the viewfinder. If NOT something is going on. Also what speedlite. Canon or a 3rd Party speedlite unit.

Reset your camera back to default settings and try again.

Are you certain the camera is "getting stuck"?
Or, is it just pausing to allow the flash time to recycle? If it's this latter, then it's normal.
