EOS 350D AF malfunction

jacob461

So the autofocus of my "totally new and certainly not used to pieces" 18 year old EOS 350D started to malfunction, endlessly hunting and not finding focus. It is a body issue, as it is with different lenses, that work on other bodies. Is there a way to attempt to clean the AF sensor somewhat, or do I have to immediately invest a massive amount of money (approx 50€) for another body?

The AF sensor lives under the mirror. Sometimes cleaning that area can fix the AF problem, but with a camera that old, it’s not likely to help.

@jacob461,

We certainly wish you luck.  I think Mike has summed it up pretty well.  After 18 yrs, maybe its time for a new camera?  You might treat yourself. 🎁
