Will my canon 250D work with studio lights, my old camera which is a 4000D didn’t work because of a missing contact in the hotshoe. The hotshoes on the cameras look the same so i’m not sure if this camera will work or not. If it doesn’t is there anything i can do?

You also have to be concerned with a flash unit/system's trigger voltage. This is the voltage that is carried into the camera when firing the flash. Digital cameras typically have a limit of around 6 volts without burning out the flash circuitry of the camera. Older flash units can be 250 volts or higher. There are devices used between the camera hot shoe and the flash connector that step-down to 6 volts maximum. The Wein Safe-Sync is one of them.
