Hi there . I purchased a 2nd hand 1 dx 11 19000 shutters looks great condition …for holidays in Costa Rica …however not really happy with quality of shots …took 8000 photos in all sorts of conditions … but so many shots look so soft at jpeg large and raw … shot mainly on 100-400 mk 11 with 1.4.  But some on 70-200 2.8 and 100 2.8 macro.…shot on every program tv av p manual with auto iso but images were so inconsistent … mainly wildlife  …in fact my 20 year old 1ds shots 11mp look far sharper apart from a few… if someone could help please 🙏

Disagree about using .jpg ever.  Sports photographers under time constraints typically shoot jpg and get it right in camera.  Landscape, portraits, fine art photography, yes on RAW.  Following this because on a recent photo shoot my 1DX II with a recent shutter replacement produced soft images using 70-200mm L II, 300mm L II, and 100-400 L II.  Photos with R 3 using same lens were tack sharp.  The 1DX II is my go to sports camera and in the past has always produced superb images.  Guess it is time to send back to CPS?  Suggestions welcome.

Well you are certainly free to use whatever you feel is best and sports photographers are an outlier in that respect. They typically don't do extensive editing as time restraints are paramount. Perhaps a simple crop and that's it.

"Suggestions welcome."

As George from Seinfeld said, "Darn right its me not you." Sharpness of your photos is almost always the "me", the user and not the "you"  the camera. Look there first.

BTW, you found a two year old post to comment on. I doubt anyone cares any longer.
