EOS RP How to go faster than 1/180 with flash attached

Hey,

I have the canon rp, and i have the sunpak ext flash, but with the flash attached, the shutter speed only goes to 1/180. I did some digging round, and found that it is a typical problem with this camera. Would you happen to know what flash i can buy to where i can use higher shutter speed?

You can use any Canon EX series or EL-1 & EL-100 speedlite to allow High Speed Sync/ FP Flash. Example Speedlites would be 270EX, 430EX, 600EX II-RT, EL-100.

1/180s is the maximum flash sync speed in the EOS RP.  As with all Canon cameras (even the EOS R1 where it's 1/250s), if you need to work with faster shutters, look at HSS as Demetrius points out.

Note: One way to avoid HSS is by using an ND filter (which allows you to keep the camera at the max sync speed, but can then use wider apertures). A benefit of this is that you won't incur the "power tax" in your flashes when HSS is used.  Typically you lose about 2 stops worth output.
