I am a Yearbook teacher and I am having an issue with a T8i Camera. It has a full battery and a new SD Card. But when we turn it on, the red indicator light blinks rapidly for a second and everything seems fine but as soon as we take a picture the shutter closes and everything goes dead. We have to remove the battery and the SD card and put them back in to get it come back on.
Help?!

MrsHarris202,
I have a T8i, and I must admit that nothing like this has ever happened to me.
Do you get any kind of warnings or error messages when this happens? Are there any blinking lights before it shuts down?
It almost sounds like there is some kind of malfunction in the Auto Shut Off procedure as described on page 649 of your manual.
Usually, in that situation, you can wake up your camera by hitting your Disp button.
In trying to research your problem, I did run across a similar situation from someone using a different brand of camera. It turned out that that person had a malfunctioning shutter button.
Have you tried a different SD card?
Are you in a position where you can send or take your camera in for inspection or possible repair?
