EOS Rebel T7 photos coming out extremely dark

notreallyecec

I am experiencing an issue with my Canon EOS Rebel T7 and was hoping you might be able to assist. Whenever I shoot in manual mode or adjust the shutter speed, my photos come out extremely dark, even when I try adjusting the ISO and aperture. Despite troubleshooting and resetting the camera, I haven’t been able to resolve the problem.

I would greatly appreciate any guidance or recommendations you can provide.

notreallyecec,

Just offhand, it sounds like your shutter speed is really, really high.

Could you post a photo and include the settings you used: shutter speed, aperture, ISO, what time of day it was, and what the weather conditions were like?

Simple answer, you are adjusting outside the exposure triangle. Plain and simple. Remember al photography gear has its limits. Perhaps you are asking it to do what it can't. First, why manual mode? What are you trying to shoot? M mode is a last resort when all others fail to get the shoot under the conditions which is very to extremely rare. The only time I use M mode anymore is for shooting the stars.

Samples and exact info of what and how you did it. Please.

notreallyecec,

If you have not done so already, you should downloan the manual for your T7 from usa.canon.com.

Chapter 4 of the manual on Advanced Shooting - specifically page 113 on M:  Manual Exposure may be very helpful.  Steps 4 and 5 on that page where it describes matching the "Standard Exposure Index" and "Exposure level mark" as shown at the bottom of the viewfinder display or on the back screen may resolve your problem.

Good luck!
