Canon Rebel T3i - Is Audio Saved Separately from Video?

I have recently purchased a dji dual channel mic system (2 mics) that can be used with both a DSLR camera and an iphone.  My question is whether the audio recorded when plugged into the T3i is "saved" as part of the video file or is it saved as a separate audio file?

Hello gman4691. The audio is recorded as a part of the video file. It is not a separate file.
