Subject: Concern Regarding Canon R5 Mark II – Sold as New

Dear [Seller's Name or Store Name],

I recently received the Canon R5 Mark II I purchased from canon was sold as brand new at full price. Upon unboxing, I noticed that the packaging was not as pristine as expected — the strap appeared slightly worn, and the overall presentation didn’t match what I typically see with factory-sealed Canon products.

Out of caution, I checked the shutter count and was surprised to find it already at 1,000 actuations, even though I’ve taken fewer than 100 photos since receiving it.

Should I be concerned that the camera may have been previously used or returned.Could this unit be an open-box, demo, or returned item? Not sure what to do here, as it is a first. I believe the camera is working ok, it is a little glitchy when working with the settings, but may be that the screen times out quickly not sure.  Thanks for your advice.

Greetings ,

Where did you purchase your new camera?

Please confirm you purchased it directly from Canon USA and not through a third-party website.

It sounds like you purchased from a third party seller or marketplace.  Maybe Amazon, Walmart or other website?

Canon does not operate or control a store on Amazon.

Canon does not sell used gear unless you purchase refurbished.  I suggest you check the box and make sure it has a US warranty card and that it matches the serial number on your device and box.

I think it's also important to let you know that only Canon Support can provide shutter count on mirrorless bodies.

Perhaps you used ShutterCount from DIREStudio?

"The camera reports counters in 1000 increments"

1 exposure will show you 1000.
