I have had this issue before and could not resolve it. I teach a high school AVTF class and use the M50s. Students have a variety of SD cards and they are used consistently. However, today I have two more cameras that are not reading the cards, "Card's write protect switch is set to lock," which is not true. I have cleaned out the slot, nothing is damaged, batteries are not the issue, I cleaned out the slot multiple times, and formatted the cards on a computer and still the problem has not been solved. Please someone tell me there is something I can do.

Are these full size cards?

They are standard SD cards ranging from 16gb-64gb

Hello jherring,
I'm sorry to hear that you are having issues with your cameras. Are they using microSD cards with adapters in the camera? If so, let's please just try regular SD sized cards and format the cards in the camera prior to use. The EOS M50 Mark II is compatible with the following cards regardless of capacity.
*SD/SDHC/SDXC memory cards
* UHS-I cards supported.
If the cameras are still unable to read the cards mentioned above, then these cameras would need to be serviced unfortunately.

I am also a teacher and experiencing the same issue. I currently have 6 M50 Mark II out of service (almost my entire inventory of cameras) because of this issue. At first it was intermittent, but now it's widespread. I confident that they are out warranty and I do not have repair funds in my budget at this point in the year. For cameras that are on average less than two years old, this is beyond disappointing and is clearly an issue with manufacturing.
