The chip is M1

MAC Os Sonoma

I tried everything and my mac is not connecting to camera.  When I open lightroom,  it wont let me add the photos.

Do I have to update the latest firmware on Canon 5d Mark 4?

Any help is appreciated!

The issue resolve was pretty simple.  I had to update the firmware in Canon 5d Mark 4 to the latest firmware.  It worked like a charm with Adobe lightroom.   Thank you

Check out this Apple Support Article to see it applies to your situation.

If though your only need to get photos onto your Mac, the best thing you can do is to invest in an SD and/or CF card reader.   Apple makes an SD to USB-C reader, but there are many others from reputable brands.  Be sure though to get one for your computer's specific USB port type.

There are other older readers that also work with CF cards that the 5D Mark IV uses.  My older external drives had built-in CF and SD card slots.  Though my new ones only have CFexpress and SD.   What I have been doing is capturing RAW+JPEG to both card slots in my 5D IV.  And just working with SD card to injest photos onto my Mac.  I haven't bothered connecting my 5D IV to my new Mac (that first had Ventura and now Sonoma).
