Hello everyone,
I am the happy owner of an old model, EOS 50D, which shows a Error #50. I have tried everything and brought it to Canon Support.
Unfortunately, they do not fix this model anymore, and suggested to find someone else to fix it (probably a shutter issue apparently).
Do you know anyone around San Francisco who could fix this?
Many thanks for your help,
Louis

Midwest Camera Repair will service it if parts are still available. This is not a good error to have especially on a 10 year old camera. Might be time to upgrade. I will guess a shutter will cost you around $350.

Maybe it doesn't matter, but notice that the OP is referring to an error message on a 50D, not a 5D2.

Yeah. You are right. I assumed that Err 50 is one of the common errors of most Canon DSLRs. So quoting an example for 5DII may not be very irrelevant to other models. Thanks for pointing it out to me.

Thank you for your answers.
Actually, I already tried this before bringing in to Canon support but it did not solve the problem. Based on their feeback, I really think it needs a manual repair now, probably changing the shutter.
@ebiggs1: thank you as well, I will call them !
I know it is an old camera... but was still working well, and I just love it 🙂
Might be time to upgrade though, you're right... It's hard because I loved my 50 D !

Well if it truly has sentimental value, I totally understand, $350 is only money. Go for it. I still have a C&C done on my F1n that I rarely use, now, it but that camera went with me thru good and bad. It is my friend.
