Best External Stereo Microphone for the Canon EOS D5 Mark iii

zurbanski

I am looking to purchase an external stereo microphone for my Canon EOS 5D Mark iii camera. Will the Canon External Stereo Microphone, DM 100, work on the Canon  EOS D5 Mark iii? If not, do you have recommendation for an external stereo microphone?

Thank you.

Regards,

Zigmund

I am not sure if I could be happy with any external mic attached to cam.

My suggestion is to use an external sound recorder and in that,

my favorite in terms of bang of buck is:

Zoom H1

If you want to record sound and video into one source an external audio recorder will not do the trick. Try doing a search at bhphotovideo.com for rode stereo mic and pick one that best suits your budget and other needs.

the orignal link I posted here was to the rode stereo video mic at bhphoto.  unfortunately the link is only going to their website so it's pointless for me to try it again.

The dm 100 is meant for vixia camcorders that the mini-advanced accessory foot on the mic attaches to supplying both power and audio.

I don't know if it is the best, but I use one of these on my 5D III.
