Ancient Rebel XT - new computer running Mac Catalina 10.15.7

Hi everyone - I have a Rebel XT I bought used in about 2006; I need to connect this to a computer running Mac OSX Catalina 10.15.7 // I left the EOS utility disc at home and am out of town ; trying to download the EOS utility.  I downloaded the latest, EOS 3 and plug in the camera via the USB cable and nothing happens.  Help please.  Do I need an older version of EOS utility?  I cannot find such on Canon's website and don't hardly dare accept it from any other website.  EOS Utility 3 says :  "connect an EOS camera".  Well, it IS connected.  I turn on, turn off, jiggle the cord, nothing.  Thank you in advance

Thanks for posting!

While our Forum Community members are welcome to chime in, your product has been retired. Once a product is retired, the official Canon support content (troubleshooting articles, user guides, how-to videos, etc.) may be removed from the Canon website. To take advantage of Canon's innovative technologies, consider reaching out to our Canon Upgrade Specialists at 1-800-443-8002.

One other option that may be a way to transfer those pics might be to use an external card reader with your Mac.

Have a great day!

Thank you for your reply - I suspected as much.  However, my camera still works and I'm not giving up on it yet.  I'm interested in the external card reader; would that be available retail in central Oregon?  Also an external battery charger.  Thanks again!

Card readers can be easily found from online resellers such as B&H Photo.  In terms of brick-and-mortar stores in your area, you'd have to do a search.  e.g. I find that Target does carry SD card readers, but Walgreens does not.   Though would your local Target (or whatever stores nearby) have it on premises, or would require an online order, no idea.

Greetings,

You do need the EOS Utility 2.14.

I believe v3.15.10 includes both:

The camera might be too old.  (no longer supported) Get a card reader as suggested above.

If you are just looking to download images the Apple Image Capture app should work for you. Included as part of the Apple suite of software on your Mac.
