Did you mean:

6d or 7d for action shots

I'm currently looking to purchase a new camera for a project I'm working on. I'll be shooting RC CARS that move fast. Which is better 6d or 7d and what's the best recommended lens. Thanks

Thank you, thank you, THANK you for this.

I've been debating for two months how to best improve my camera kit. I'm a self-taught photographer and professional environmental journalist, who's primarily focused on shooting animals and people in nature. After a year and a half spent cutting my teeth on a kit lens and Canon T3i (to ensure I spent my time honing my eye for composition and basic understandings of light and timing, instead of fretting about gear), I'm finally ready to shoot on a more advanced setup. Every professional photographer I ask about gear derides me for even bothering to think about gear, saying, "Only amateurs worry about gear," but I think exploring all my gear options is an essential part of learning how the components of cameras work together and why. I've been debating whether to get a 6D, simply invest in better glass and give my T3i its due, or chuck Canon altogether and go for a super expensive but portable Sony A7s (great for lowlight, but mirrorless, which can be an awkward transition—I feel more connected to the photo when I see it through the lensfinder). Your review makes me feel like I should really just shell out for the Mark III, but I'm worried that after dragging my feet for so long, I might be better off waiting until the next iteration of the camera comes out, so I miiiiiight be able to find Mark III's at better prices. But I won a scholarship to Santa Fe Photographic Workshops for a workshop in July, so I probably need a good one now (it's an action-oriented workshop).

Some photographers I've spoken with have been saying they think the 6D's sensor is better: would love to hear your comments on why that is/isn't true, and how.

Anyway, that's a lot of personal info but, TL;DR: THANK YOU.
