5d mark2 is it me or is the camera broken?

Brand new to this, going through the menu to set up camera to shoot video and the lcd monitor goes black. Battery is fully charged and the menu on top of the camera works. I've taken out cf card and battery and tried to restart but the monitor remains black???

I'll check mine when I get home.  I have both a 5D II and a 5D III body.

May be your version is different. But my 5D3 and 5D original all have the info button too. I also check the 30D, 40D, 60D and T4i, the all have the info button.

400D, 550D, T5 and some powershot models have the DISP button.

I guess they are the same.

I have a photographic memory... but sometimes the images come out black.  Apparently this is one of those days.

Checking my 5D2 and 5D3 I see that the button does say "Info"

That is because the internal LCD goes black when you view the video on a screen. HDMI does this, too.
