Is there an easy way to remove the tripod collar on the 70-200mm f 2.8 II zoom lens.  It gets in the way when you are hand holding it.  THe 70-200 f 4.0 collar is easy to remove.

Thanks

B

Line up red dot on collar with red dot on lens and slide toward rear cap.

... After loosening the white knob a little. Just don't loosen it so much that it comes out because I have seen a post where it can be a pain if it actually comes out far enough to let go of the collar.

Why do so many people say "FER-tographer"? Do they take "fertographs"?

Thanks so much.  worked like a charm.  Thank god for the internet.  I just could not figure it out and it did not make sense.

The lens manual has a page that shows how to remove the tripod ring.
