Tripod mount on EF 300 F:2.8 IS L series no longer rotating smoothly.

I have a Canon 300MM F:2.8 IS L series lens and the tripod mount collar is no longer rotating smoothly.  This is the original EF lens and I am sure that the bearing surface has become worn.  There is a plastic ring that I believe needs replacing.  Any idea where to obtain that part?

Thanks

Greetings,

If I have identified the lens correctly, I believe it was released in 1999.  If so, it's unlikely that Canon will still have parts for it.

Telephone number for the Cannon parts department.  : 1-866-481-2569,

Other possibilities might be eBay or us camera dot com.

Have you tried a small amount of white lithium grease. Small means tiny as a little is good but a lot is not. I almost can not see you wearing out a part on that lens especially the tripod collar mech.

Yes, it is absolutely a "legacy" lens, so no, Canon no longer services it.

It's the teflon liner that has worn down just enough to cause metal to metal contact.  I have considered a bit of graphite but he lithium grease might be another possibility.  I'm hoping that the Mk II will have the same teflon bearing though.  Thanks for the parts dept number.
