I know the "L" series lenses are reserved for FF but what EF-S lenses have the best image quality? I know they won't have weather sealing and won't be as robust but from what I have read there are a few EF-S (and EF) that are regarded as "near L lens optical quality", I just want to see if anyone can add to this list! Any particular focal length?

Shotgun approach? Just any ef-s lens?

As my respected colleagues have commented on, your post lacks a lot of clarity and could be a lot more specific. Knowing several things:
What subjects you shoot or, if you know it, your desired focal range?
What body are you trying to work with?
Do you a bias towards fast lenses or large zoom ranges?

The one EF-S lens that many people felt was close to L-series lens quality is the discontinued EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM.

Another lens that is good is the EF-S 60mm f/2.8 Macro

The only EF-S lens that I am aware of that has build quality that approaches the build quality of an L lens is the EF-S 10-22mm. It’s a baby tank.
