Trouble programming EF 100-500mm lens ring via EOS R5 Mark II

hi. i just moved up to the R5 m2 and the ed 100-500 lens. i am trying to program the lens function to be “one shot ~ servo” and when i make the change on the camera then go out and back into the menu the lens ring is assigned correctly.  however when i turn the ring it adjusts the exposure which i believe is default.  i have tried setting the shutter as servo AI and also servo.   o am shooting in Av with iso on auto with limits.  any reason this should not work?  are there limits as to what can be assigned to the lens?

any further information needed?  new to mirrorless.  thank you!

Hey ptornetta, I'm confident someone here can assist but a quick question. You said that you are using the EF 100-500 but I believe you are meaning the new RF 100-500 as there is no EF version.

Also, if it is the RF 100-500mm are you attempting to program the control ring on the lens which would be done through the camera menu function?

Hello, ptornetta!

The functions you are trying to use are not available for the control ring. I've checked my R5 II and the current Advanced Users Guide. See page 1056 (attached) for available functions that can be bound to dials, including the control ring.

Be sure you are in the "Control Ring" function assignment menu 🙂
