Registration of RF-S14-30/4-6.3 IS STM PZ

Wasted over an hour trying to register this lens.  It can't be found under either individual or kit.  I can find the lens itself, and I can find product support, etc.  I just can't register the thing.  Canon has the absolutely worst registration pages bar none.  The company should (a) be ashamed and (b) fire every one of the lame web page designers and workers that are responsible for this ridiculous site.

This is not the first time I've had a miserable experience with Canon registration.  If I didn't have such a large investment in Canon products I would never buy another thing.  I'm recommending Sony gear to all of the people starting out with cameras today.

I've attempted to reach out to Canon about the problem but there's no way to email or otherwise contact the company. Because Canon doesn't give a **bleep** about its customers.

Hello,

There are several ways to reach out, however support is not available on weekends. Since that lens is still listed as pre-order on the website it's likely that it just hasn't been added to the data bank for registration yet. Did you already receive your physical lens?

Yes, I have the physical lens and also thought that it might not be listed for registration yet.  I had the same problem with the EOS R6Mk2 about a month ago.

I understand lag time in updating and keeping web content current (I've been managing and keeping websites up since 1996) and know that it can be a pain, but I'm seeing the same problems across the landscape (insurance companies, banks and other financial institutions, communication companies and their devices, etc.).  I don't think corporate leaders (who generally tend to be older, clueless and proud of it) realize the harm that this visits on brand and reputation.  The twenty-somethings that are supposed to be maintaining the sites (and getting overpaid for doing so) don't appreciate the damage they're doing either.  It really is a shame.

Note when using RF-S lenses on Full Frame cameras such as the EOS R6 Mark II. There is a significant reduction in megapixels. In Full Frame mode the camera has all 24 megapixels available. But in 1.6x crop (APS-C) mode the camera can only provide 9.4 megapixels. This is because the lens cannot project an image circle large enough to cover the entire image sensor. Instead in can only cover the center of the image sensor thus reducing megapixels.

And that has exactly what to do with the OP's issue? 🙄

Not saying this particular case is a user problem but it's possible and a call to Canon will help 1 (800) 652-2666.

I know its hard when stuff acts up but be patient. They will fix it.

Not that it matters in the least with your very much frustrating experience but I have dozens of Canon gears and never had a registration problem. Give them a call.

From what we've been told, this lens hasn't started shipping from Japan yet, and isn't supposed to be available until the end of July.

Can you provide an image of the lens that shows the markings on the lens clearly, like so:

Thanks -- never had a problem until lately and I'll ultimately get the lens registered (not sure why, but I haven't registered many of my cameras or lenses so I really shouldn't be that bothered 😀)

I hadn't thought about how many Canon cameras I have (not counting the film versions).  My closet runneth over --

EOS 10D, EOS 6D, EOS 7D, EOS 7DMkII, EOS M3, G7XMkII, G9XMkII, EOS R, EOS R6MkII, EOS R8 and an embarrassment of lenses.

Interesting -- I ordered the lens as part of a kit on April 9th and it arrived at the end of the month.  Here's an image shot with my iPhone
