Hi there. I just received my new RF 600mm F4 lens from Canon shop and I wonder if the aperture blades should be visible when lens is off camera? Is that normal? I own array of Canon lenses in EF mount including 800mm prime and none of them have aperture blades visible when lens is powered off. Is that a RF mount thing? Please advise me on the subject as this is is my first RF lens.

Yes ALL RF Mount lenses stop down the aperture to the smallest aperture when the camera is OFF. This is to protect the image sensor. I am not sure if the same thing happens with adapted EF glass.

Thank you. I'm concerned how easy would it be to damage it. Let's say you drive on unpaved road while lens is powered down ( a lot of vibrations happening ) or moving in and out of your vehicle.

My friend owns owns the RF trinity of lenses (15-35mm F/2.8, 24-70mm F/2.8 and 70-200mm F/2.8) along with the 50mm F/1.2 and the 85mm F/1.2 prime lenses. She's never had a problem with ANY of her lenses breaking due to vibration. In a moving vehicle on bumpy pavement.
