Lens Warmer for Canon EF 24mm

LuckyJames

Seeking guidance on a lens warmer for a canon EF 24mm f2.8 lens. The strip width would need to be approx 20mm and length about 22cm. Does such a thing exist, or can the community offer innovative solutions?

Warm Regards - James

Probably best to seek advice in one the astrophotography forums. I know my son-in-law does astro and makes his own using old toaster elements with some sort of insulation that run off a 12 Volt supply but I don't have construction details.

This is called a "dew preventer".  You should find easy instructions on how to make one.  But the idea is very simple. Get six 25-ohm resistors. Wire them in series. They will produce 1 watt of heat when connected to a 12 volt power source. Now just fix them around the front of your lens.  We used to do this a lot and it works well.

Thank you for your guidance, much appreciated.

$15-20 on Amazon.

Higher priced ($30) Lens Muff uses hand warmers, non-electric.

Thanks, for the idea! I can build my own with 3/8" Velcro tape and a handwarmer. Inexpensive and easy solution to warming a pancake lens.
