Hi all!  I have a 5D Mark III, and I just bought the new 100-400L IS II lens.  I have an EF 2x III Extender, and I can't get the lens to auto focus when using the extender.  Can someone help me with this?

Mabe so but the fact remains, in photography there is no free lunch.  You give to get.  The question becomes, is it worth it?

Not trying to discourage anybody from trying whatever they want.  But they need to know everything, which rarely gets reported.

It's the hawks that have made me want one.  They're hard to get close to.  Even if it helps a little, I will be glad.

that excites me.  yay!!  I picked it up today, so we shall see tomorrow how it goes!

we shall see how it goes!

You must post some photos for us.  I love to shoot hawks and egales.  I have a couple 600mm lenses and a couple 500mm lenses.  Go fo it and post back.  🙂

Several years age my wife was in the street in front of our house when a huge red-tailed hawk landed on the pavement about 20 feet away. He looked around for a minute or two, then took off again. Did she have her camera with her? No, and she obviously didn't dare run in and get it, for fear of scaring the hawk away. Oh, well ...

Nice. I particularly like that one of the duck landing.  Smiley Happy

I bought it last week, and I'm having no problems with it.  It's been lots of fun!  Thanks for taking the time to post.  I even used it at my daughter's band concert last night.  Now I can sit up in the balcony (crowds make me crazy) and still get great shots!

OM, I shoot lots of school events and lots of music concerts.  Get on my Facebook page if you like, there are some thousands of photos of the school band.  I usually get in the sound both both at the back of the auditorium.

What instrument does your daughter play?  I teach trombone and have played since I was in grade school.  Smiley Happy
