I don't think that’s the f/2.8L version. No red ring Looks like the f/3.5 lens.

The UC600 means it was made in June 1987 at our Utsunomiya, Japan factory.
Based on that, I'm confident that the lens is the EF28-70mm f/3.5-4.5.

Yes Stephen I have an old EF 70-210mm F/4 lens. It was also made in Japan too. I believe all of these early EOS system lenses were made there.

We still make our lenses in Japan. I should have been more specific, so I'm revising the post!

I was specifically talking about the AF motor type. All Arc Form Drive lenses came from that factory and nowhere else. Even as recently as 2022.

That's an older Arc Form Drive AF motor lens. The reason you can tell is because the date code starts with a "U". Only Arc Form Drive AF motor lenses were made there and nowhere else.
