Hi there
I have for a month now, been worried about my lense, since i've started to get a lot of my photos out of focus.
My camera is set on eye tracking for animails at the moment. But the problem is also there, if I control the focus area myself. I can feel the lense work and focus. But as soon as the pictures have been shot - Zero focus.
The problem is there, even if the F is on 3.5 or 4 or 5 and so on ...
I mainly shoot on 2.8 or 3.5 on horses and have done it for years. With no problems. The problem also appers, if the models are almost completly still.
I hopeyou can zoom in and see ?
I have been doing this for years, so i'm not new and i have had tons of successful sessions before 🙂
I've uploaded 2 photos, so you can see how the 'blurry' acts.

Almost all OOF issues are user caused. Give exact settings for a better understanding of how your did the shot. The bottom photo looks like motion blur perhaps too slow SS.

Buch1991,
What EF to RF adapter are you using?
Have you tried Canon's DPP to review your target focus point?
And if you could give a little more detail on the R5 setup it would be helpful. Servo or single shot? AF method and subject to detect in the AF menu.
AF menu 3 what are your settings?

In the blurred photo, the sharp area is the grass in front of the horse's foreleg. As noted previously in the thread, see where DPP shows the focus point(s). With a fairly wide open aperture (according to the EXIF data it was 1/1,000, f3.5, ISO 250 with lens set to 200mm) the combination of a fairly shallow DoF given the f stop, focal length and distance to subject doesn't give you much latitude in nailing the focus point on what you want in critical focus.

Interesting that you are having those issues f2Llens but I can say with a high level of confidence that my RF 24-240 and EF lenses perform pretty flawlessly on my R5. When the R5 is set up properly it's produces tack sharp images regardless of the lens I have mounted including Sigma. All these captures are with the R5, quite a few with the 24-240mm as well as a couple other lenses. Your body may have challenges or you may need to review your camera setup.

Four images provided with face and eyes, I have thousand more, and you discuss the mushroom.. Here's a fine example, tiny little fella at about 40 yards shot with the R5, tack sharp, sweet bokeh and beautiful detail.
And the mushroom was for a little humor, at least you got that much out of it.
But coming back to your original post, did you notice the clarity on the four images that were germane to the conversation. All R5, and the first two shot with the 24-240mm. So like I mentioned, it is either setup based, camera malfunction or user error if people are having challenges capturing sharp images. Although thousands of people that are using the R5 could simply be getting lucky with the insanely sharp images they produce.
Moving target, no eyes but the animal tracking worked real well, notice the mole is in the Yotes mouth. Ah....just luck.

"... , it is either setup based, camera malfunction or user error if people are having challenges capturing sharp images." I agree.
I'll repeat since it may not have sunk in almost all OOF, or in other words blurry, images are user caused. Really doesn't matter if it is an R5 or another camera/lens combo.

As an addendum, sharpness or IQ is subjective to a point. It has to do with several conditions.

It’s not possible to objectively judge the sharpness of your posted photos because the resolution is only 667 x 1000.
I realize that the forum has a limit on image file size. But you are far below that limit by a wide margin. The size of JPG files can be significantly reduced by reducing the bit depth to 8 bits, which is ideal for web applications.
or, if you could post RAW files to a public file sharing platform like Dropbox, that would be great.
