Hi....I've thoroughly confused myself, which is quite common. Looking at an R10, it is APS-C. EF-S lenses were made for APS-C as well. Would this camera crop those lenses too? Or would that be just be the full frame R series bodies that would crop to 1.6X? Hope it makes sense.
Thanks

Yes, I introduced my two nieces into film just recently. They were interested, so I gifted them two of my EOS FF 35mm cameras and decent starter lenses. They are taking a class somewhere around the Atlanta area. They also liked that they would be in the minority or people their age, doing something that most do not. Either way they are excited and learning, and my equipment is going to good use.
Just got the R10 yesterday, it is pretty small, I give it that. Only about 2 1/2 fingers around the grip. But I'm going to give it a whirl this weekend and see how it goes.

"If you overlay the sensor of an R7 with that of an R8, it will cover only the central 62.5% of the R8's sensor."
Why do that? And that is my point as there is no good reason to. Use your gear that's all Look through the VF and use the lens that gives you what you want. Period. There is no reason to then think darn I wish I knew how this same lens would look if I only had a FF camera. Oh, and wow, how would it look on a medium format camera. These mysteries must be known.

I felt the same way when I first bought my RP in 2019. After years of bulky DSLRs with great ergonomics, the RP felt toylike and uncomfortable to hold. Canon makes a grip extension that gives me about 3 1/2 fingers grip instead of 2 1/2. I'm not 100% certain that Canon makes one for the R10 (they probably do), but if not, I'm sure you can find a third party one.
If you go with a third party one, make sure that it also has the door so you can access the battery and SD card without removing the grip. Someone was making a non-accessible one for the RP when I first looked into them. That would have been a pain in the ... foot.

Ahhhh....will look into that. Yeah coming from larger cameras, it feels odd in my hands. And feels more front heavy with heavier lenses of course. May or may not be my thing, a little time to figure it out. That or maybe go with a 90D and I'll be not so far off in "newer" technology available to me, and that'll be enough. Again, first digital camera for me that wasn't a point and shoot or just a phone. Size was never an issue for me, like I had to have a smaller camera, I was going more by features, price and mirrorless. The idea of a built in flash was important too. I know they are not ideal, but for the travelling I'll be doing, keeping the camera/gear to a minimum ( single camera and a good travel lens) were key to me. 90D isn't huge, but manageable for the travel I will do.
Thanks!!!

This is what they look like (although this one is for the RP). You can see the door mechanisim on the left of the part.
There are many pros and cons for the R10 vs. 90D. Have you visited the Camera Decision web site? It lets you do side by side comparisons of any two cameras. I have found it very helpful over the years. Personally, I would go with the newer technology of the R10, but with the 90D it seems a bit more capable in many areas. Tough call between the two.

Thanks for sharing. Not as big and bulky as like the battery pack on my EOS 1 N. That's why I was seeing in my head. That is much more a minimalist deisgn. I see they make one for the RP, but I'll look some more.
Yes definitely a tough call. I'm going to see a 90D tomorrow and see it in person.
Thanks again!

R10 went back. Went with a 90D. Got a good deal on a refurbished. Mirrorless.....maybe someday. Guess I'm not ready or not ready to fork out more yet. Really like the feel of the 90D in hand, and it's not the latest and greatest, but since it's my first Digital camera with interchangable lenses, it will work for me for now. The built in flash isn't bad, and will suffice for when I'm packing to be super minimal, like going overseas. Rather have a few lenses with instead. First few pics were great so far. Thanks for the help and eudcation regarding the "crop" thing etc.

MrWalley73,
Enjoy your new 90D!
I upgraded to a 90D from a Rebel T7 late last year. Even though I had been using the T7 a lot for almost 3 years, there was/is still a pretty steep learning curve in order to learn and properly use some of the advanced features of the 90D. I'm still learning and "discovering" new things on the 90D and I am enjoying the experience. The precision and speed of the focusing on the 90D is awesome and the 32.5mp sensor lets you crop in close without losing too much detail.
I don't recall which EF/EFS lenses (if any) you said you owned but I'm a big fan of the EFS 28mm f2.8 STM "pancake" lens. The lens and camera combination is pretty small and less obtrusive than the camera with a longer zoom lens attached and possibly better suited for some situations while traveling abroad.
Enjoy your new camera and safe travels!

Thanks guys....lenses I have a plenty of those. Prob take something small and a zoom. Lots of Scandinavian landscape to photograph. Yeah the camera is nice....just picking out a new holster style case to pack smaller with too. Maybe a Tenba Skyline.
