Hi I am a beginner. The camera and the lens are new. I have no problem in zooming in and out, but the focus ring does not seem to do anything in MF mode. Please help.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Can you please describe the exact description of the 55-250.  It should have that on the front of the lens.  Does it have the letters STM?

Try with camera powered on and “awake” by pressing the shutter button halfway.

Given the OP says they are using the lens in manual focus mode, I am wondering if the lens is the STM model and because of its fly-by-wire controls, does not feel like a conventional mechanical lens when the focus ring is turned?
