Best lens for macro bokeh effect like lensbaby velvet

ChrisD

I have a Canon EOS R7, and enjoy macro photography, mostly flowers and insects.  I love the ethereal effect of the lensbaby velvet lenses, but I would prefer to use a canon lens to get that effect (if possible).  I was hoping to do this without a lot of post-processing work.  Would anyone have a lens recommendation for me?  Perhaps the RF35mm with F1.8 or RF85mm with F2?

The 85mm would be a better choice. That does not mean it is the best choice.

The only Canon lens that I know of that will do some of what the Lensbaby will, is the RF 100mm f/2.8L macro. It has a spherical aberration (SA) ring that will allow you to soften your subject and fiddle with the back/foreground sharpness and bokeh. But it is pretty expensive. I have this lens and it works quite well, although I seldom use the SA ring.
