AF Issues with Canon 60D + Sigma 18-35mm 1.8

So I recently purchased the sigma 18-35mm 1.8 for use with my Canon 60D. The lens only works in AF if I change my camera settings to center focus rather than AI focus. Kind of disappointing but it's working well so far despite that. Right now the bigger issue is I cannot shoot and focus in live view. There is no half trigger press to focus, the camera simply snaps the picture immediately. Are there any settings I can change within the camera to fix this? Furthermore if I use the regular AI AF, the camera does not take pictures at all. There's no focusing or pictures captured at all. I've tried the same lens on a different 60D with the same issue and I've tried a different Sigma 18-35 on my body as well all yielding the same results therefore ruling out any one off malfunctioning and confirming this is a compatibility error between these two pieces of equipment. I'm totally lost as this is an ef s lens so basically buily for camera bodies such as the 60D.

AI Focus gives everyone problems.  Almost no one uses it.

Good to know! I honestly don't mind the center focus too much as i do car photography and any shot taken above a certain aperture leaves the rest of the car in focus. Mainly just need assistance with shooting live view. I miss taking wheel shots and right now my options are to lay on the ground and look through view finder or just blindly take a bunch of pics and hope that 1 of them is usable. Currently there's no AF at all in live view. I'm open to buying the sigma dock to update the lens but wanted to check if there's any camera settings i can adjust before dropping the money for an accessory that may or may not change anything.

Have you ever tried resetting the camera, as well as the resetting the custom controls settings?

The camera is almost old enough to be the lens’s uncle.  I would not expect a compatibility issue, but you never really know until you’ve tried it. I would doubt there are many people using that specific combination and even fewer are part of this community.
