printer not responsive

I have a Canon Pixma MX 490. When I turn it on, the green light flashes and it makes sounds as if its printing something (even though I'm not). The message just says "Canon" and I can't press any of the other buttons, it's not responding to them. When I try to turn off the printer, it won't actually turn off, it automatically turns back on and still has green light flashes. I've tried printing something and the printer appears as offline. Please help! I can't press any buttons or print anything! So I can't even properly reset the printer either.

Canon released a "Service Notice", and following the instructions, I was able to update the firmware, and the printer is behaving properly for me right now. Critical to stop internet access for the printer, though, or the update won't work.

Surprisingly, I also am facing the exact same problem since last couple of days. It just keeps going on and on and on. Not sure if it’s a virus?

MX495 exactly the same today. This is clearly a common problem just hit these printers.
