Did you mean:

mx-532 paper blockage

ahaha
Apprentice

I've had my the printer for some time with only an occasional paper jam which was soon fixed.

Whenever I attempt to print,  the paper will move about an inch into the printer and stop. If I pull the sheet back out I see that the paper has some damage to the front edge.

When I watch the process from the front of the printer I can see the two rubber rollers rotate, moving the paper.  These rollers are in front of the area where the front edge of the paper rests when inserted. In that row there appears to be a plastic ?wheel (with teeth)  that is positioned just to the right of the rubber rollers as seen from the front looking along the top of the paper. That ?wheel is located in line with where the paper's front edge becomes damaged.

I suspect that this ?wheel is supposed to rotate upward as the paper moves inward and upward.  I don't see it rotate any during the short time when it is visible until the paper moves upward to block my view. The paper continues about an inch before its movement stops.

If I cut out a narrow section of the paper along the path across the wheel the paper will continue further into the printer but then runs a crooked path to jam.

I open the back access panel but I don't see any means to access the internals.

Is this something simple I've missed?

Hi ahaha,

It would appear that your PIXMA MX532 would require service.  You are eligible for Canon's Upgrade Program. This is for out of warranty units which have been diagnosed to require service, or for some reason are incompatible with a new or upgraded system. This option allows you a one-time opportunity to purchase a replacement product, discounted from the list price.

To help you get up and running quickly, we also offer free standard shipping (if the order is completed by 12:30PM ET). If you would like to take part in this option, please call our Sales Department at (866) 443-8002 seven days a week, 8am to Midnight. Let them know you have been working with technical support and the Canon Upgrade Program was offered.
