My MX410 won't function at all (no scanning or printing) because it says that the very brand new and definitely full cartridges are empty. I've tried reinstalling the cartridges, cleaning the censor, removing the cartridges before disconnecting the printer and putting them back in after reconnecting it, and holding down the <STOP/RESET> button to override the error, bribes, threats, blackmail, and none of these have worked. In particular, the <STOP/RESET> button didn't work at all, it just gives an error noise.
Any advise how to either get the <STOP/RESET> method to work, or some other way to override the erroneous error?

Hi,
Could you take a photo of the ink cartridges and attach them to your reply.
We look forward to hearing back from you.

Hi,
Since you are using Canon ink but it's still not detected, there is an internal hardware issue with the printer.
You are eligible for Canon's Upgrade Program. This is for out of warranty units which have been diagnosed to require service, or for some reason are incompatible with a new or upgraded system. This option allows you a one-time opportunity to purchase a replacement product, discounted from the list price.
