iP 8720 dull colors

Hello all.

I just purchased Pixma iP8720, after reading many wonderful reviews on its print quality and ability to take cardstock.
However, when I tried a first print tonight there was no setting for cardstock.
I used a matte photopaper setting, but the print was very dark, the colors not true to the original.

I was prnting an image that had been professionally printed (a tarot card from my own design) and the color difference was huge.
The blue was dull and the yellow was very flat.

I am using Photoshop CC on a Mac.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

Please be advised that cardstock in not a supported media type for the IP8720.  Below is the list of supported paper for printing photos:

Paper for printing photos:

  • Photo Paper Pro Platinum <PT-101>
  • Glossy Photo Paper "Everyday Use" <GP-501/GP-601>
  • Photo Paper Glossy <GP-601>
  • Photo Paper Plus Glossy II <PP-201>
  • Photo Paper Pro Luster <LU-101>
  • Photo Paper Plus Semi-gloss <SG-201>
  • Matte Photo Paper <MP-101>

With that being said, there are a few things that could be causing this issue. I recommend calling Canon support for free at 1-800-OK-CANON (1-800-652-2666), Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 8:00 PM EST excluding holidays.

You will need to have a Canon account when you call. If you have not created account, please click HERE.
