TS705a error: No paper in rear tray.

DaveG01

My printer reports that there is 'no paper' when I try to print from Windows 11 for the first time. On the printer it says 'no paper in rear tray', which is correct but there is plenty of paper of the right size in the front casset. If I go into the printer Print Queue and delete the stuck job, I can then press print again and it works just fine using the front cassett. After that it usualy works ok till the next time I start work. I have changed the driver to make the rear tray un-available but it still occures.

You can take this step:

Setting the Front Cassette as Default Paper Source on TS705a

To set the front cassette as the default paper source on the Canon TS705a printer, follow these steps:

Accessing Printer Settings

  1. Turn on the Printer: Ensure your printer is powered on.

  2. Navigate to Menu: Use the printer panel to access the main menu.

  3. Select Setup: Look for the setup or settings option in the menu.

Configuring Paper Source

  1. Choose Paper Settings: Find the option for paper settings or paper source.

  2. Select Default Source: You should see options for different paper sources. Choose the front cassette as your default.

  3. Confirm Selection: Make sure to confirm or save your selection to apply the changes.

Final Steps

  • Test the Settings: Print a test page to ensure the printer is using the front cassette as the default source.

  • Adjust as Needed: If you need to switch back to another source, repeat the steps and select the desired option.

By following these steps, you can easily set the front cassette as the default paper source on your Canon TS705a printer.

Thanks for the help but I have been through all the menu settings and there isn't a paper settings or source settings.

That menu only allows you to choose paper size and type. There doesn't ssem to be any option for 'no paper'

https://youtu.be/h95gK3w4T74 maybe you will get a hint by viewing it.

The video briefly describes the 2 paper input trays and the output tray for the printed paper. It also shows how to fix the output tray error code if the output tray has not been extended.
